Job description

Zachry Group is seeking a strategic and execution-focused Employee Communications Manager to own and drive enterprise internal communications that connect, inform, and inspire our workforce across corporate offices, project sites, and craft environments.

This is an individual contributor position on the Brand and Communications team and serves as a trusted advisor to business leaders, translating complex priorities into clear, compelling communication that strengthens engagement, reinforces culture, and enables business performance.  This role operates with a high degree of independence and accountability in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate blends strategy, storytelling, and operational excellence, with a deep understanding of how to reach diverse, dispersed, and non-desk audiences, and the ability to influence stakeholders across functions and levels without direct authority.  This role works closely with the other Brand and Communications team members to deliver cohesive and impactful communication across channels.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field

  • 5+ years of experience in internal, corporate, or employee communications

  • Proven ability to develop and execute communication strategies in complex organizations

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex information

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels without direct authority

  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently and drive initiatives from strategy through end-to-end execution

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Proficiency with digital communication tools and platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, email platforms)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting change management or transformation initiatives

  • Experience communicating with frontline, craft, or field-based workforces

  • Background in construction, industrial, energy, or engineering environments

  • Familiarity with employee engagement platforms, communication analytics, and multi-channel strategies  #LI-CC1

Enterprise Communication Strategy 

  • Develop and own a comprehensive internal communications strategy and annual roadmap aligned with business priorities and brand standards

  • Define audience segmentation (corporate, field, craft, leadership) and tailor communication approaches to meet distinct workforce needs

  • Develop and continuously optimize a multi-channel communication strategy to effectively reach both desk-based and frontline employees

  • Partner with HR, Operations, Safety, and leadership to align communications with business goals and the overall employee experience

  • Ensure alignment with Zachry's brand, voice, and values

Content Development and Execution

  • Develop and execute end-to-end, clear, engaging, and actionable communications across multiple formats (written, visual, video, in-person, mobile-first)

  • Translate complex business priorities-including operations, strategy, and change initiatives-into audience-relevant messaging

  • Establish standards and frameworks to ensure consistency, clarity, and quality across internal communications

  • Own and manage key communication channels (e.g., enterprise newsletter, leadership updates, campaigns)

  • Partner closely with Brand & Communications team members to develop integrated communication assets that align messaging with visual storytelling and brand standards 

  • Collaborate with Brand and Communications team members, to support integrated internal and external communication efforts as needed

  • Operate as a hands-on content leader, owning the end-to-end development of messaging, toolkits, and communication assets

Field and Craft Workforce Communications

  • Design and implement communication approaches for project sites and frontline employees

  • Identify and deploy innovative solutions for non-wired employees (e.g., SMS, print, supervisor-led communications, digital signage, toolkits)

  • Ensure messaging is accessible, practical, and actionable for field execution

  • Gather insights from field teams to ensure communications reflect real workforce needs

Leadership and Change Communications

  • Partner with leaders to support enterprise initiatives through structured communication and change plans 

  • Develop and provide leaders with toolkits, talking points, and cascade materials 

  • Partner with leadership to enhance visibility and transparency across the organization

Measurement, Insights and Continuous Improvement

  • Define and track KPIs for communication effectiveness (reach, engagement, comprehension, action)

  • Leverage analytics and employee feedback to optimize content, timing, and channels

  • Own and maintain communication tools, templates, and best practices

  • Stay current on emerging trends, tools, and technologies to enhance internal communication strategies

Team Collaboration and Flexibility

  • Partner closely with Brand & Communications team members, including creative and external communications functions, to flex support across priorities and deliver integrated communication solutions
