This role is as an employee of SecondMuse Foundation, a non-profit corporation.  Job Description SecondMuse is seeking a National Director to lead a new, multi-city program to advance the inclusion of women in tech, in collaboration with Pivotal Ventures, the investment and incubation company created by Melinda Gates. The National Director will be responsible for the program's strategic direction, building out local teams in three cities over the next five years, overseeing city programming and promoting best practices nationally. Working directly with the SecondMuse LLC Managing Partner and Senior Director, this role will design and implement programming in three emerging tech hubs, building a community of stakeholders within each hub’s local tech ecosystem to align on goals, metrics and activities to increase the representation of women in tech. As a candidate for the National Director role you are passionate about advancing the representation of women in tech, have stellar management and communication skills, maintain a balance between flexibility and focus, are people-focused, entrepreneurial and independently proactive. You are experienced in designing new programs, building and managing teams, have existing involvement and relationships within tech communities and are able to grow networks to support and drive programming.  Essential Functions  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.  * Build a team to implement the program, including hiring local staff, and engaging external vendors for communications and monitoring & evaluation.  * Be an external local and national presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model for regional and national replication. * Ensure ongoing local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications, and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals. * Build and maintain new relationships and deepen existing ones, while empowering the community, including visionaries, collaborators and partners.  * Be the frontline liaison to program partners, client and potential funders, responsible for developing a trusting relationship, aligning on expectations, hosting regular meetings and regularly updating program partners. * Ensure effective systems to track scaling progress, and regularly evaluate program components, so as to measure successes that can be effectively communicated. * Lead fundraising efforts to augment initial programming and develop long-term sustainability of programs as needed. * Contribute to the strategy and leadership of the global company, as well as SecondMuse learning. Public speaking or media experience a plus.  * Entrepreneurial and innovative approach to program planning. * Experience in working with private sector tech companies, government, and/or NGOs. Experience in fundraising a plus. * Familiarity in the application of systems thinking, developing a theory of change, and design thinking (human-centered design principles). Experience with monitoring & evaluation a plus. * Ability to identify partners that can improve the program and establish and build relationships with them.  * Works well in a participatory, team-based environment with appreciation for teamwork and the consistent rhythm of feedback that’s required to do exceptional work. * Ability to communicate across different sectors and groups effectively, thoughtful listener with a willingness to seek and consider multiple perspectives and possible solutions.  * Self-motivated and action/solution-oriented.  * Committed and motivated to learn, rapidly incorporating feedback in formal and informal settings.  * Strong orientation and understanding of triple bottom line business approaches. Work Environment / Travel  This role is a full-time position in a distributed team / office structure.  Frequent domestic travel required. The candidate will be based in New York or Washington D.C but will conduct programmatic oversight and implementation in three U.S. cities.  Required Education and Experience  * An advanced degree and / or  a bachelor's degree with 15+ years of experience building teams, managing people and bringing together diverse groups of stakeholders behind a common goal.
