Recipe is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Commercial Real Estate professional to join our team as a Sr. Analyst, Lease Administration. In this role, you will take ownership of our commercial real estate portfolio’s lease management software, complex financial reconciliations of landlord accounts, and critical management reporting. This role will report to the Manager, Risk Management.

Please Note: Candidates without direct commercial real estate experience will not be considered.

What you will do in this role:

Commercial Portfolio Management

  • Reconcile complex commercial statements of account, taking the lead on the audit of CAM (Common Area Maintenance) and Property Tax reconciliations, and resolving billing irregularities directly with commercial landlords
  • Conduct deep-dive reviews of commercial leases across all locations to ensure strict financial compliance regarding CAM costs, operational responsibilities, and landlord/tenant obligations
  • Proactively identify portfolio locations with potential financial or operational risk to Recipe, including landlord disputes, Franchise AR collections, and arrears exposure
  • Drive written and verbal negotiations and communications with commercial landlords to gather critical financial documentation and resolve complex lease issues

Finance & Lease Administration Software

  • Calculate and accurately report percentage rent and incremental rents in strict compliance with commercial lease language
  • Partner closely with the corporate accounting team to identify lease accruals and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Apply Recipe’s financial principles to real estate accounting, tax, and accounts receivable when processing landlord payments
  • Review, update, and manage financial terms, vendors, and contacts in alignment with newly executed commercial contracts
  • Abstract complex commercial leases, maintaining key clauses, critical dates, financial obligations, and other vital lease data within our dedicated lease management software

What we are looking for from you:

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of dedicated, hands-on experience in Commercial Real Estate Lease Administration
  • Demonstrated mastery in reading, interpreting, and applying complex commercial lease language, specifically regarding financial clauses, CAM, and tax structures
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a directly related field
  • Proven experience taking ownership of dedicated Commercial Lease Management Software, alongside strong proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite (especially Excel/Sheets for financial modeling)
  • Deep, practical knowledge of the Canadian commercial real estate market and standard real estate accounting principles
  • Exceptional written and verbal negotiation skills, with the professional confidence to liaise effectively with major commercial landlords, accounting teams, and internal stakeholders
