About the Role:

As a Calibration Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement instruments and equipment used across various departments. Your expertise will directly impact product quality, safety, and compliance with industry standards and regulations. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining calibration procedures to guarantee that all devices meet stringent performance criteria. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of metrology principles to identify and correct deviations. Ultimately, your work will support operational excellence and continuous improvement initiatives within the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, Metrology, or a related technical field.
  • Proven experience in calibration of industrial or laboratory instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of calibration standards such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540.
  • Familiarity with calibration equipment, measurement techniques, and data analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Calibration Technician (e.g., from the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies - NICET).
  • Experience with computerized calibration management systems (CMMS).
  • Background in quality management systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced training in metrology or instrumentation.
  • Experience working in regulated industries such as aerospace, pharmaceuticals, or manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine and non-routine calibration of a wide range of instruments and equipment according to established standards and procedures.
  • Develop and update calibration documentation, including procedures, reports, and certificates to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot calibration issues, recommending corrective actions or equipment repairs as necessary.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance and engineering teams to support audits, inspections, and validation activities.
  • Maintain calibration equipment and tools, ensuring they are properly calibrated and in good working condition.
  • Train and provide technical guidance to staff on calibration best practices and equipment handling.
  • Monitor calibration schedules and maintain accurate records to ensure timely completion of all calibration activities.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Calibration Specialist to accurately perform and document calibrations, ensuring all instruments meet precise standards. Analytical skills are essential for diagnosing calibration discrepancies and implementing effective solutions. Communication skills facilitate collaboration with cross-functional teams and the clear reporting of calibration results. Familiarity with calibration software and data management tools streamlines scheduling and record-keeping tasks. Preferred skills, such as certification and experience with quality systems, enhance the specialist's ability to contribute to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance efforts.
