As a high school social studies tutor, your duties are to provide supplemental assistance to students who are having trouble with social studies or who want to improve their ability to perform well in social studies classes. Unlike a teacher, your responsibilities are not to teach a lesson plan, instruct students, or grade the students who come to you for help. Instead, you help students on ways to reach goals, improve their study habits, or grasp key concepts with which they are having difficulty. Some tutors provide private lessons in a specific subject, while others may work as part of a more formal afterschool program run by a school, nonprofit, or private company.
