The Property Accountant reports directly to the Director of Finance and plays a key role within the commercial property management team. This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations for a portfolio of commercial properties while collaborating closely with internal teams and property stakeholders. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and takes ownership of their responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly financial statements for assigned properties
- Complete monthly bank reconciliations and balance sheet account reconciliations
- Record monthly accruals and maintain accurate financial records
- Prepare owner distributions and monthly management fee calculations
- Assist with the preparation and input of annual property budgets
- Support lease administration activities, including lease input and review
- Process daily cash receipts and maintain updated cash tracking reports
- Review invoices for proper coding, approval, and accuracy
- Approve check runs in accordance with cash availability and approval procedures
- Collaborate with team members to support overall accounting operations
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required
- Prior real estate or property accounting experience preferred
- Experience with Yardi Voyager and AvidXchange is highly desirable
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and time management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly
